Q. What are the Real-Time Faith lessons about?

A. RTF is about God’s kingdom of grace and being a recruited agent (steward, citizen) of that kingdom. There is a battle going on between God’s kingdom and the kingdom of evil. Being agents of God’s kingdom requires action. We can’t just listen to what Jesus asks of us, we are to do it (James 1:22) if we want to be effective agents of the kingdom on this earth. The lessons are about the different challenges, rights, or privileges in the “real-time” of being an agent of God’s kingdom.

Q. Why is the Real-Time Faith Bible Study Guide (BSG) put together so funny?

A. The Real-Time Faith BSG is put together in a unique way so that it can be used in a unique way. It is meant to be “consumable” (used up) as if it were a workbook in a spelling class at school. There is one big worksheet for each week’s lesson. It is meant to be taken apart and actually used in class, as well as being able to be mailed home to missing members, or taken home to study the following week. It is stapled only because otherwise the separate lesson sheets would slip around in the printing process.\

Q. How is the Real-Time Faith Bible Study Guide (BSG) supposed to be read?

A. (1) If you open the BSG flat as if it were a calendar you were going to hang on the wall, you will see that you have the entire front side of Lesson One open in front of you. (2) Gently REMOVE Lesson One from the staple that holds it (or remove the staple from the stack of lessons). (3) Now you have one large sheet containing all of Lesson One on the front and the back. (4) Each week you are to remove the lesson you need for that week. (5) If you miss a week you will need to remove the lesson you missed before you can get to the correct lesson.

Q. How can a teacher best use the student Real-Time Faith Bible study guides?

A. A good way to make the most of the student material is to keep all the student BSGs at Sabbath School. Each week you can remove the week’s lesson from the study guides and distribute them to the students. The program is written so that you can actually use the student lesson while teaching. If students are missing, this would be a good opportunity to let them know you missed them by mailing them the lesson they have missed.

Q. How does a teacher go about using the Teacher’s Guide?

A. These instructions are printed in the front of every Real-Time Faith Teacher’s Guide.
STEP 1: Read through the entire Preparing section of the Teacher’s Guide to become familiar with the lesson concepts. You will be best able to use the teaching material if you thoroughly understand the core concepts of the lesson.
STEP 2: Read the rest of the Teacher’s Guide material for the week, including the student lesson. Get an idea of the options provided for teaching the concepts.
STEP 3: Choose the specific options you will use in teaching the lesson. There are more options provided than you will be able to use. Try to choose something from each category: Beginning, Connecting, and Applying. Keep in mind that the students need to have an opportunity to be interactive (participate actively and with one another) and to study from the Word.
STEP 4: Note when and how you will distribute or refer to the student lesson during the program. The student lesson for each week is integral to the teaching process and will be referred to throughout. It is intended to be removed from its binding each week and used during the Sabbath School program.
STEP 5: Collect the materials you need to conduct the lesson. Once again, keep in mind that student participation is vital.
STEP 6: Prepare the student lessons. If you keep the student Bible study guides at church, remove the appropriate student lesson for the week and prepare it for distribution. If the students take their Bible study guides home at the beginning of the quarter, make arrangements to be able to teach the lesson smoothly even if the students forget to bring that week’s lesson back with them. (Example: have the necessary Bible references listed on the board, have additional copies of the student illustration available, etc.)
STEP 7: Keep the end in mind. Plan to wrap up your lesson with a summary of what the students have learned.
